Meet the Team - Liam Hutchings
In our latest Meet the Team profile, we speak with Liam Hutchings, Director of Professionals at Arbuthnot Latham.
What is your banking specialism?
I have worked in banking for over 25 years across a variety of roles. Over the last 15 years I have focused specifically on liquidity management for corporate and commercial companies.
My role is to make my clients’ surplus deposits work harder for them and to ensure they have enough liquidity for their business.
What is happening in your sector currently?
The professionals' sector has been suffering from a low interest rate environment for many years, which has led to a lot of inertia as there has been no benefit in shopping around for better rates. However, the increases in interest rates by the Bank of England provide an opportunity to act and maximise returns. We support businesses with a range of competitive products meaning that we have something to suit most requirements.
My team can create bespoke banking solutions, with accounts that are simple to open, while providing very competitive returns.
Why did you choose to work at Arbuthnot Latham?
I was attracted to Arbuthnot Latham because of its long heritage and reputation for high quality client service. I have also been given the chance to shape a service proposition around the needs of our professional clients. At Arbuthnot Latham, we pride ourselves on client engagement and hands on service, meaning that clients can speak to us directly, without having to go through annoying call centres.
The superb hospitality we offer to our clients in the London office was also a key factor! It is great to be able to offer a private banking level of service to commercial clients.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I have a huge passion for coaching football, I am a part-time goalkeeping coach along with being a football manager for my son’s team. I love spending time with my family walking our dog, and trips to the cinema amongst other things. I also like to play golf but that is only if I have stocked up on enough balls!
