Meet a real estate expert - Chris Causton
Chris Causton recently joined our real estate team as a senior commercial banker.
What is your banking specialism?
I have worked in commercial banking for over 16 years, with the last six years specifically focusing on the real estate sector. My experience covers property investment, development, and bridging, with my previous roles incorporating all product suites, so, residential and commercial property.
My role involves working with clients funding against investment assets/portfolios to release further cash for the borrower, allowing them to grow their portfolio and take advantage of the opportunities in the market. I regularly attend property focused events and read up on literature provided by valuers, giving me up-to-date information that I can share with clients.
What is happening in your sector currently?
I think the key issue in the sector is the rising interest rate environment that we find ourselves in and how this is impacting our clients and borrowers. It is a case of working with clients to understand how we can help, and what level of help is needed during this tough period. Each case is completely different, so finding the right solution for the client, and providing the right level of support is essential.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to spend as much time as possible with my two daughters. We love walking our dog, swimming, and trips to the cinema amongst other things. I also like to play tennis a couple of times a week, the odd round of golf when it allows, and enjoy watching the football.
