This year’s NACFB Commercial Finance Expo comes at an important moment for Arbuthnot Latham. We are celebrating ten years since launching our commercial banking proposition and reflecting on the relationships that have shaped that journey.

From the outset, brokers have been a consistent part of our story; not just as introducers, but as trusted partners who understand clients, challenge thinking, and help shape the right outcomes. Many of those relationships have developed over years and continue to make a lasting difference to the clients we support.

Since launching our commercial banking proposition in 2016, we have worked closely with businesses and the people advising them. Alongside Renaissance Asset Finance, which joined the wider Arbuthnot Banking Group in 2017, that relationship-led approach has remained consistent across the intermediary market, particularly where clients’ requirements are more complex.

Today, that is reflected in the depth and consistency of those relationships, with well over a hundred broker partners working with the Group over the past 12 months, supporting funding into the nine figures across their clients.

Arbuthnot Latham and Renaissance Asset Finance are both long-standing Patrons of the NACFB, reflecting our continued support for the broker community and the intermediary market.

That support sits within a market of real scale. NACFB Members arranged £33 billion of SME lending in 2025, up 25% year-on-year, while NACFB analysis suggests the wider broker-led market is around £50 billion annually, underlining the role brokers play in helping UK businesses access funding.

Tony Eden, Head of Specialist Commercial Banking and Real Estate Finance, Arbuthnot Latham

"When you look back over the past ten years, what stands out most is the quality of the relationships that have been built. Brokers have played a hugely important role in that. They know their clients well, understand what matters to them, and help create the kind of introductions that long-term banking relationships are built on.”

Jamie Chaplin, Commercial Director, Renaissance Asset Finance

"Renaissance has worked with brokers for many years, so we understand how valuable those relationships are. Being part of the wider Arbuthnot Banking Group has strengthened what we can offer, and it has been encouraging to see that shared commitment continue to grow."

Jamie Chaplin

Much of that work happens away from the spotlight through conversations, problem-solving, and staying close to clients and their advisers. Over time, that builds trust and turns introductions into long-term relationships, shaped by consistency, openness, and doing what you say you will do.

Looking back at the NACFB Expo

The NACFB Expo has been part of that journey over the years. Renaissance Asset Finance was active in the broker market before 2017 and, since joining the group, alongside Arbuthnot Latham, it has become a shared fixture in the calendar.
