Relay UK

Relay UK is a service operated by BT. Clients who have a hearing or speech impediment can contact us by telephone using a Relay Assistant.

By downloading the app and linking it to your telephone number, you can use the relay service on your smartphone, tablet or PC. You just type what you would like to say, and read the replies in real-time, while an assistant relays the conversation to the person you are calling.

How does the service work?

  • Search for Relay UK on the App store for iPhone or iPad and at Google Play for Android devices, alternatively visit relayuk.bt.com.
  • Once you have downloaded the app you can link your telephone number to it. It only takes a minute.
  • Tell the app how you will be using Relay UK - will you be typing and reading, or speaking and reading?
  • By connecting your telephone to a Relay Assistant, you will be able to read what the other person is saying and either talk or type your response.
  • If you have subscribed to this service, let your relationship manager know so we can update our records that you are a user of the Relay UK service.
  • If you are going to call via this service, please notify us in advance so that we can verify it is really you, otherwise we will be unable to accept the call.
