The Music Foundation is a private grantmaking and funding organisation in the United Kingdom.  It is part of the Musical Instrument Finance Company within the Arbuthnot Banking Group.

The Foundation is focussed on the specific needs of young solo musicians.  It aims to remove many of the obstacles that prevent gifted musicians from pursuing a vocational soloist career.

In particular, the Music Foundation provides funding for suitable instruments, tuition, travel, accommodation, education, materials and concerts.  This takes the form of Grants and Loans depending on the applicant’s circumstances and the nature of their needs.

Uniquely, however, the Music Foundation is not so interested in incremental assistance, but rather complete funding solutions spanning the entire duration of the young musician’s training.

The Foundation will not, however, turn an applicant away simply for want of a good fit with our objectives.  Instead we will endeavour to treat every application on its merits giving regard to how the funding will help achieve the launch of a successful solo career.
